In 2009, we went to the Ziatown village in the jungle of Liberia. Ziatown is in the Zeepeh Community, which actually consists of over 20 villages. Liberia, located in West Africa, was founded by freed slaves.
We are partnering with an organization called Disciples of Nehemiah, founded by our friend Joseph Nimley. Joseph came to the United States in 2001 as a refugee during Liberia's civil war. After he finishes his Master's Degree in Church Planting, he is planning to move back to Liberia in an attempt to serve those who have been oppressed.
So far we have:
- Helped provide the resources for the Zeepeh people to build their own road to/from their community. They can now be more connected with other communities for the sake of trade, education, etc. We love to see people resist isolation.
- Collected many donated items, but we need the finances to send the items. We are planning to rent a large freighter container that will be delivered to the community, where our friend Joseph Nimley will be waiting to distribute items to the Zeepeh people. We have received two pickup trucks, a ridiculous amount of clothes, medicine, veterinary supplies, books, and more.
Our long term hope is to provide:
- Wells for clean water for each village in the Zeepeh community (over 20 villages).
- A school building with trained teachers.
- Medical service.
- Farming tools and other resources to help re-establish farms destroyed during their civil war.
